Planet Fitness Eyes Brandon Location

July 18th 2022, BRANDON MS – It appears that Planet Fitness is planning a new location here in Brandon MS, in the former location of Piggly Wiggly (1574 W Government St, Brandon MS 39042). At a recent City of Brandon Board Meeting, Planet Fitness sought and received approval for a sign for the location. Planet Fitness would serve as a new anchor for the shopping center, serving to revitalize the area. Ollie’s Bargain Outlet opened in the same shopping center in March 2020.

Planet Fitness (PF), founded in 1992, operates just over 2,000 locations. PF began franchising in 2003, and now has locations in the U.S., Canada, Dominican Republic, Panama, Mexico, and Australia. A typical PF location is about 16,000 square feet, and includes a wide assortment of equipment, including weight machines, massage chairs, treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, 30-minute circuits, and locker rooms (with showers). Amenities may vary by location.

Other metro area locations of PF include Pearl, Ridgeland, 2 in Jackson, Byram, and Clinton. Memberships vary from $10 per month to $24.00 per month (the latter provides extra amenities and use of any PF location worldwide). PF markets itself as a “Judgement Free Zone” that caters to all gym users, including novice and casual users.
