News from the Mayor’s Office
Brandon Residents,
I wanted to take a moment to let you know about recognition recently received by the City of Brandon concerning our safety. Brandon, again this year, has been identified as the second safest city in Mississippi. Our Brandon Police Department reports annual crime statistics as do many of the 297 cities in our state. Reported annually, uniform crime statistics are used in a comparative format evaluating frequency and types of crime within municipalities.
This is not the first recognition of this type, as there are other organizations using similar comparative data in the business community across the state. Being recognized as a Safe City helps tell the story of Brandon as being a place to live, work and raise a family. This attracts new business investment in our city and spurs positive residential growth.
While the 2nd place out of 297 is certainly positive recognition, there is much more you should about your hometown. 2022 is the eight (8th) year in a row Brandon has been recognized by Safewise as the 2nd Safest City in Mississippi.
I am asking for your help. Take a moment to call, visit, write a note or use social media to encourage our Police Department toward keeping up the good work and service to our community. Let them know individually and as a department they are appreciated.
Thank you for choosing to live in Brandon,
Mayor Butch Lee
