Learn about Credit & Debit Card Surcharging – Hosted by Brandon Chamber

June 25, 2024 – FLOWOOD MS – Brandon Chamber is hosting a Business Resource Event, in partnership with Flowood Chamber, Madison County Chamber, the Mississippi Hospitality & Restaurant Association, and Tyler Technologies on Wednesday June 26, 2024, from 2pm – 3:30pm CT at the MORA Building in Flowood. Many businesses in today’s market are using some type of “Differential Pricing” with credit card processing. Differential Pricing is regarded as alternative card pricing, including surcharging, convenience fees, non-cash adjustments, dual pricing, etc. While such pricing is permitted in most areas, there are strict regulations and even laws governing its use.

A panel of various industry experts have come together, along with the 3 Chambers of Commerce, to openly discuss Differential Pricing, as well as provide discussion and Q&A on how to properly maximizing profit in business, while staying compliant with card brands and the law.

Do you own or operate a business? Then this event is for you. Don’t trust the future of your business to “We’re safe, as we have signs that notify the public about it”, or “Everyone is doing it, and no one is getting into trouble”. You’ll hear from industry experts about credit card “differential pricing”, such as surcharging, convenience fees, non-cash adjustments, dual pricing, who can do it, who cannot do it, and more. While the event is primarily intended for business owners, the public is welcome as well… just be sure to register (info available below), for just $10. All proceeds from the event will go to the MHRA’s Pro-Start Program.

The event includes a presentation with information vetted by the CEO of Visa, as well as information on what’s legal, what’s NOT legal, what’s compliant or not compliant by the card brands, and how to keep your business out of harm’s way, while limiting credit card fees as much as possible. There will also be information regarding Visa’s new secret shopper program, as well as open discussion regarding the FTC’s view and actions on credit card pricing.
