February 1st 2023 – BRANDON MS – If you’re looking for a great new restaurant to try, Good Boys Po’boys is NOW open in Downtown Brandon. It’s located in the former location of GB Bakery, at 200 Town Square Dr. This is directly next door to Genna Benna’s. This new restaurant concept is part of the Georgia Blue and Genna Benna’s family of restaurants.
Their slogan is “Small Menu, Big Sandwiches!”, and they mean it. Currently, they have 8 different sandwiches on the menu, along with some desserts, chips, and various drinks including tea, soft drinks, and beer. Home-made is a recurring theme here. Being as the location is a former bakery, they have some pretty nice high-end baking equipment, and baking skills. As you might imagine, their po-boy buns are hand-made at their location. Not only that, but they also make their own gravy, which is currently used on 7 of their 8 sandwiches. Even their potato chips are hand-made, with multiple flavors.
Good Boy refers to man’s best friend, which is the symbol of the restaurant… a loyal dog. So the sandwiches have familiar dog names, such as Old Yeller, Ole Blue, Clifford, and Scooby. There’s also plans to add a special from time to time, which will likely bring another dog’s name into the mix. So far, we’ve tried out the Ole Blue, Clifford’s Club, and the Scooby Shrimp. All were delicious. Be sure to have a helping of napkins, as the toppings and gravy are plentiful. NOTE: We cheated and used a fork with the Ole Blue. On the dessert side, the Salted Caramel Brownie appears to be a must-try.
Good Boy Po’Boys opens today, February 1st 2023 at 11am CT. Their operating hours will mirror that of their sister location, Genna Benna’s. Go ahead and stop in and give it a try, and please remember to #EAT042.
