I am David E. Farris and I have qualified as a candidate for the recently vacated Alderman seat for Ward 6 in Brandon. My decision was made after prayer and discussion with family, friends, and supporters. All of this, plus my sincere desire to serve the residents of Ward 6 and all Brandon residents helped guide my decision.

I am married to Susan Foster Farris. We met at Mississippi State where we both attained our degrees. We recently celebrated 45 years together. Susan and I have now lived in Brandon for 27 years. We attend Crossgates United Methodist Church. All three of our children; Jeffrey, Sara, and Hannah are Brandon High School graduates. Jeffrey and Stephanie live in Cleveland, MS with their two sons; Keegan and Nick. Sara and Brent Leach live and are active within the Brandon community. They have 3 children; Lily, Asher, and Judson. Hannah and Sanford Moore live in Jackson with their son, James.

I do not enter this political race with an agenda of any kind. I recently retired from PriorityOne Bank and I am confident that my experience in management, sales, and finance; plus serving two terms as an Alderman in Morton will assist in decreasing my learning curve. In time, I should be knowledgeable enough to ask questions and better assist in making decisions regarding the proper utilization of the city’s resources. It will be a priority to support the Mayor and the Board. I will support and encourage the Department Heads, the police and fire departments, and all of the employees that work for the City. I hope to assist with economic development as opportunities arise. I look forward to working with the current administration on infrastructure, improving recreational opportunities, etc. I want to help the current administration build on what they see as our economic strengths.

I appreciate the support that I have received and I humbly request your vote and support for the Special Election for Ward 6 Alderman  to be held on October11, 2022.
