Public Message:
I, Dwight Middleton, look forward to serving the citizens of Brandon as the Ward Five Alderman. I have lived in Brandon for the past 29 years, and I am married to the former Gail Magarity of Richland, MS., who is a legal secretary. I have three daughters; Shelley Middleton Martin, an RN employed with Mississippi Sports Medicine, husband Travis; Ragan Middleton, a graduate from MSU and currently attending Ole Miss pursuing her Master’s in Speech Language Pathology; and Kim Middleton, a resident of Pearl, who is a physical therapist. Shelley and Ragan both attended Brandon Public Schools from kindergarten through high school.

I am a graduate of Mississippi College where I received my B.S. Degree in Business Administration. I was formerly employed with Saks Fifth Avenue for 45 years (McRae’s, Proffitt’s, Younkers, & Carson’s), serving as a director in the corporation’s credit organization. While at Saks, I managed a budget with up to 100+ associates with the primary purpose of minimizing losses while maintaining the goodwill of the company. I negotiated contracts with third parties, worked harmoniously with human resources and management in other areas of the corporation, and recommended and wrote policies and procedures as related to my areas of responsibilities. I also served as interim Director of the Compliance Department. Now retired, I have time to continue to devote my efforts to city business as an alderman.

Currently, I am completing my fourth year as an alderman serving the citizens of Ward 5 in Brandon. I pride myself in personally assisting the citizens with their requests. I try to respond as quickly as possible and follow through on all issues until they are resolved. I have only missed one board meeting over these three and one-half years, being out of town at that time. Attending scheduled meetings allows one to be vigilant and accommodating to the current concerns of the city and its citizens. Over the past years in office, I have learned a lot regarding the operations of the city. I feel that these experiences allow me to be even more prepared to better serve you in the years to come. I promise to always accept your calls, respond to your e-mails, and assist you in any way that I personally can. The city has accomplished a lot over the past few years, has more in the works now, and future plans to further enhance life in Brandon. I will continue to support our fire and police departments in every way I possibly can, and I promise to represent you in a respectful and professional manner.

I may be reached at my personal email dwightmiddleton@comcast.net.
